Mark Introduction

PREFACE

I will be using the same format in my exposition of Mark as I used with the Gospel of John and Matthew. I will write out the verses from the King James Version (KJV), and follow below with my translation from the Greek Text, reading from the United Bible Societies Greek Testament, with the letters (LGT), for the literal Greek translation.

As I have stated in my preface to the other Gospels, my work will be in the form of an exposition sticking as close to the original text as I can. With our background in John and Matthew we noticed that John presented Christ as God, and Matthew presented Christ as the Jews King; now Mark will present Christ as Servant.

Again, I encourage my children and grandchildren, and other brothers and sisters to study the word daily; there is no substitute for the daily intake of Bible doctrine; as McGee so aptly put it, "A Christian will get mighty skinny if He feeds on the Word of God only once a week." In order to build spiritual muscle we must feed on the Word of God daily. I urge you all to study daily and encourage one another to do the same, and God will bless us all as we study His Wonderful, Matchless, and Awesome Word. There is only one way to truly know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, and that is, in the study of His wonderful Word. Encourage me, and in turn I will encourage you as we study. God bless His family.
